CRM automation is priced two ways. DIY, you pay a tool subscription (your CRM's own automation tier, or Zapier or Make, from a free tier upwards, climbing with task volume) plus your own evenings. Done for you, it is a one-off, fixed-scope build: in the 2026 UK market a single connected system typically lands between £2,000 and £10,000, with multi-system work at £10,000–£30,000+ (illustrative market ranges, not our rate card).
For our own pricing: every project starts with a free audit and ends in a fixed-scope quote you approve before any build starts. For complex work, a deeper paid discovery (the Automation Roadmap) is available and credited in full against the build if you go ahead. If you're still mapping what the term covers, start with what you can automate in your CRM: lead capture, record sync, follow-up, reminders and reporting.

| DIY tools | Freelancer | Agency build | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Typical cost | Free tier to ~£100 a month, plus your setup time | Typically £25–£75 an hour | £2,000–£10,000 fixed scope; £10,000+ multi-system |
| Time to live | An afternoon for one simple rule | Days to a couple of weeks | Days to weeks, and few of those hours are yours |
| Who maintains it | You | Depends on the arrangement you agree | Monitored and updated for you, usually under a retainer |
| Best for | One rule between two popular apps | A defined build with a written spec | Multi-system flows, AI steps, work that touches revenue |
DIY buys you the tool and its templates. The scoping, the setup, the testing and the upkeep are yours, which is a fair trade for a simple two-app rule and a poor one for a five-system pipeline.
A freelancer buys you the build hours. You write the spec, check the result and agree who looks after it afterwards.
An agency build buys you the outcome: scoping against your process, the build across your tools, testing on your records, documentation and a handover your team can run. Insist on owning the accounts and the automation (with us, you do). When the work spans several systems or needs to read and decide, that is the job done-for-you workflow automation exists for.
Usually, when the automated task is frequent and linked to revenue. A follow-up sequence that recovers one extra enquiry a month can cover a small tool subscription many times over. Compare the cost against the hours returned and the enquiries answered, and start with the task you repeat most.
Almost certainly. HubSpot, Pipedrive, Zoho, Salesforce and Monday all connect to the common automation tools, and most CRMs ship with a native automation tier. A spreadsheet can work as the starting point too.
A single-process, fixed-scope build typically takes a few weeks. Multi-system work takes longer, and a DIY rule between two apps can be live in an afternoon.
Tool subscriptions continue monthly. For a professionally monitored system, UK retainers typically run £500–£3,000+ a month depending on scope (an illustrative market range). DIY, the running cost is the subscription plus your time whenever a connected app updates.
